Black Hill Regional Park Trails Map Locator Description

NOTE: Construction of a new hard surface hiking trail in Black Hill Regional Park is underway. The trail will be eight feet wide, approximately 6,000 feet long and consist primarily of asphalt. The construction area is from the Lake Ridge Drive loop along Picnic Lane to the existing bridge at Little Seneca Creek and connecting to the existing trail near Spinning Wheel Drive. This 1300-acre, lake-oriented park features the mostly hard-surface 4.3 mile Black Hill Trail, over 10 miles of natural surface trails, and a water trail on Little Seneca Lake.

Trails offer spectacular views of the lake, and meander through oak and hickory forests. Historical markers identify former mill sites, and interpret past gold mining history.

Location

The park is located in the upper portion of Montgomery County, west of I-270 and north of Germantown, MD.

Trail length/surface

The 4.3-mile Black Hill Trail is asphalt surface for most of its length, but the mid-section of the trail is natural surface, and is steep and rocky in sections. The rest of the trails in the park are natural surface.

Accessibility

Ample parking is available in the picnic area of the park, along Lake Ridge Drive. A Trail Guide may be obtained at the Visitor Center. Hard surface trail is accessible from Visitor Center and Picnic lane. Trail has gentle inclines.
